Starting a business in a new place is never easy, but when that place becomes home, the journey takes on a whole new meaning. I’m from southwestern Pennsylvania, and after finding the love of my life, we decided to build our life together on family land in Volga, West Virginia, in Upshur County. What began as a simple hand-painted banner side hustle has grown into Mountain Made Signs, a business that reflects my creative passion and deep connection to this community.

About Me and How It All Began

I’ve always had a creative spark. Growing up in southwestern Pennsylvania, I loved DIY projects and finding ways to bring ideas to life with my hands. I started hand painting banners as a passion project, creating pieces for friends, family, and local celebrations. When I moved to West Virginia, that creativity didn’t fade, it only grew stronger and naturally evolved into something more.

Over time, what started as a creative outlet became something I wanted to share with the community I now call home. That’s when Mountain Made Signs was born. It’s more than just a business, it’s a way to connect with neighbors, support local events, and build roots in this beautiful part of the country.

By day, I work in digital marketing, but my free time is dedicated to the outdoors, family, church, and crafting. Whether it’s woodworking at our new home or baking in the kitchen, I find joy in creating and sharing. Mountain Made Signs allows me to combine my love for craftsmanship with my passion for celebrating life’s meaningful moments.

Growing Roots in West Virginia

Moving to Volga and building a life on family land has been a rewarding experience. It’s not just about the business; it’s about becoming part of a community that values connection, tradition, and support. Mountain Made Signs is my way of giving back.

I’m committed to helping local organizations by providing yard sign rentals West Virginia and custom printed banners WV at no cost for many community events. This effort helps schools celebrate milestones, churches promote gatherings, and neighborhoods come together for special occasions.

Building this business has also allowed me to explore my love for woodworking and craftsmanship. Many of the signs are hand-finished, adding a personal touch that machine-made products can’t match. It’s a blend of creativity, skill, and heart.

Life Beyond the Business

Outside of Mountain Made Signs, I enjoy spending time outdoors, going on walks, and exploring the natural beauty of West Virginia. Family and church community are central to my life, providing support and inspiration.

Cooking and baking are other passions that keep me grounded. Whether it’s trying a new recipe or crafting a handmade sign, I find fulfillment in creating things that bring joy to others.
